Cambridge Open Studios

9th / 10th and 16th / 17th July 2016

11:00am to 6:00pm each day

This was my third year exhibiting at Cambridge Open Studios. Details are on the poster to the left. There were four artists exhibiting over the same weekends in Hilton. As well as my prints on display I gave some printing demos with cards, gift tags and refreshments available.

I am also thrilled to have been invited to coordinate the window display for Tindells Art Shop in central Cambridge to help promote Cambridge Open Studios 2016. I set up pieces of work by artists from Hilton, Fen Drayton and Elsworth in a range of media including oils (Kieron Dunk), acrylic ink and pastel (Lynn Norton), water colour and acrylic (Chris Lockwood), collagraphs (Sherry Rea) and linocut (Nina Sage).

"Nina's open studio is the best one I've visited all weekend, I love the way all the processes are explained, everything labelled. She demonstrated Lino printing and everything was organised beautifully. A must visit, particularly for anyone wanting to understand the processes involved in printing" - Rachele D 12th July, 2016.

Evening Classes - starting Sept 2016

Following the great success of my Printmaking Taster Course at Swavesey Village College in Spring 2015 I was delighted to be invited back to run two eight week mixed level Printmaking for All courses starting Sept 2015. Both courses were fully subscribed and were great fun. We covered both relief and intaglio printmaking methods, starting with linocut, then drypoint etching, monoprint and collagraph. They were friendly, informal classes. Exmaples of the students work to the right.

I have been invited back to run a Weds night course, Print Making Linocut - Mixed Ability, 7:00pm - 9:00pm starting 21st Sept 2016 for 10 weeks.

Do come along and let me ignite your passion for printmaking! There are only 10 places available so contact Community Education at Swavesey Village College on 01954 230373 or visit the College's website www.swaveseyvc.co.uk and click on the community education tab for more info.

Cambridge Open Studios 2015 - Following my successful debut last summer with Cambridge Open Studios I was delighted to exhibit again over two weekends in July with Lynn Norton in her gorgeous coach house at Hilton House. We had so much fun last year we decided to exhibit together again! This year we were joined in Hilton by Kieron Dunk who exhibited his amazing acrylic landscape paintings at The Limes.

I showed my latest linocuts including a couple of new large format pieces which have a definite oriental feel. I also showed some new colourful monoprints and my first ever wood engraving, inspired by Kidman’s Farm Cottage on Graveley Way.

Cambridge Original Printmakers - Friday 26 September to Sunday 5 October 2014 - is a new exhibiting group that will showcase Printmakers who specialise in hand- pulled original prints working within a 30 mile radius of Cambridge UK.  The goal is to promote and further a knowledge and understanding of printmaking and its technical variables and complexities. This will be achieved through an exhibition, demonstrations, and talks on printmaking. We are particularly keen to showcase new, emerging Printmakers alongside established names. We have forty one Printmakers taking up their places for the launch exhibition so you will find a vast array of work using hand pulled printing methods. Cambridge is home to the world's oldest publishing house and home to three of the largest printmaking studios in the UK so the launch of Cambridge Original Printmakers is right at home. The launch exhibition will take place at the wonderful historic Pitt Building, Trumpington St, Cambridge CB2 1RB, situated on the corner of Silver Street, opposite the famous Fitzbillies café.

Jan / Feb 2014 the Purple Printmakers and renowned Printmaker and lead tutor at The Curwen Print Study Centre, Susan Jones, launch the 2014 exhibition season with Blue Print at the Walter Strachen Gallery, Bishop’s Stortford College - an exciting exhibition showcasing our preferred methods of producing original prints.

The Blue Print exhibition creates a fascinating opportunity to view original unique prints made in a variety of ways ranging from etching and linocut to monoprints, collagraphs and solar plate.

My thanks to Richard Honey at the Walter Strachan Gallery for all his support in making this exciting exhibition such a success.
